ABOUT ME
Being proud and passionate about your country is a common trait but having the privilege of being born and bred in Cape Town, feels like I picked the long straw. After graduating from Granger Bay Hotel School, and then exploring parts of Europe, the East, and the USA, I settled back home and spent 16 years establishing myself as Hospitality and Human Resources specialist. My success and growth with a renowned company specialising in temporary employment services for the hotel industry promoted me to corporate roles, and eventually I realised a void in the core values that drove my passion. With some encouragement from family and good friends I decided to take the plunge and redirect my skills and appetite for travel, establishing GoLunar Travel in 2018. My love for the service industry is etched in my DNA, and sharing my experience of South Africa’s beauty, diversity and culture with a flair of genuine hospitality, is as rewarding as it gets.
My small business with a big heart has survived and even thrived through, some tough economic times and a worldwide pandemic that brought the world to a standstill. The old cliché “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life” drops out too easily now, whilst I am on the search for a quote more profound. Going out of my way to create exceptional experiences for my clients with genuine care for their enjoyment is what I love and have become good at, together with sharing my local knowledge with my one-of-a-kind quirk.
In addition to designing, coordinating and guiding many tours within the Western Cape, I have been fortunate enough to host several tours traveling to premium safari destinations within the Greater Kruger and many other private game reserves. This has reignited my love for the African bushveld and left me borderline obsessed with getting to the bush as often as possible, to explore more lodges and camps in my personal capacity and with my family. In my personal life, I am an unconventional family man in love with my fiancé, and my two remarkable daughters with an 18-year age gap. My free time its mostly dedicated to family, but whenever they need a break from me, I go back to my first loves, “the ocean and the mountains” and use this time effectively by surfing and hiking, often coupled with catching up with good friends.
